[RECAP] - January

This is a new idea I'll be trying out over the next couple of months. I'm very aware that some weeks I just churn out review after review, I sometimes don't have much time for anything else. With these recap posts, I hope to give a quick overview of what's been reviewed by me that month but also keep you guys up-to-date on the developments of this blog. What's new, what my plans are and what you can look forward to in the future. I basically want to shape more of an identity, get you guys to know me a little more.

If you're put off by my long reviews and you simply want to know what's worth watching and what isn't, these monthly recaps will be right up your street.

January was a busy month for me, not just with the blog either. I work for Blockbuster (yes, the video store) and they recently went into administration which put my job under jeopardy. Luckily, my store is sticking around for now but it does mean my hours have been cut literally in half. I decided to apply for other places and I've now got a job at Cineworld too, which won't help cure my cinema addiction!

Blog-wise, I introduced a new feature - Indie Matters, which is where I review/promote films that have been shared with me by independent producers. If you have an independent film that you want me to review, contact me and you could find yourself on the blog! This month, I also reached 100k hits which is amazing. I used to always tell people that my blog 'was nearing 100k hits' but now I can finally say I've surpassed such a collossal number! Thank you to everyone that has ever read, commented or liked the stuff I write here.

So, that's you all updated, let's recap January...

What can you expect from Benend's Basement in February?

Reviews of Zero Dark Thirty and Berberian Sound Studio are already half-written and on their way. Warm Bodies, Cloud Atlas, Mama and Flight are all films I plan to see in the cinema so look out for reviews of those. And with next month being Academy Award season, you can expect a post on who I want to win the little shiny statuettes come the 24th February.

I also want to continue with the Friday Five's feature and I have many lists I could do, I just need to find the time to write it all up!
